Developing capital projects
There are many aspects to implementing a capital project for the Department of Health, and here is how we make it happen every day.
Capital project implementation
Concrete slab being laid is just one of many steps in building a modern health facility.
Every hospital and health facility are a major building, strategically important for helping all Victorians, so we care about keeping these sites operating at their best.

Planning and development guidelines (PDG)
The planning and development guidelines assist regions, program divisions, health service boards, agency managers and consultants in establishing a consistent approach and best practice to the management, planning, design and implementation of all capital investment projects regardless of size, cost, complexity and source of funds.
The guidelines are intended as guidelines rather than mandatory requirements. The mandatory requirements are contained in the policies and legislations applying to the planning, building and development industry.
Project planning is part of the capital investment cycle as set out in the Capital Project Life-cycle. It is concerned with the establishment of the business need and all pre-planning involved in developing a capital project.
