12. Endorsement

It is important that the primary author of the business case is identified and signs it off.

  • Provide details of any review process.
  • Further signature of the chief financial officer and the Department of Health and Human Services secretary are required for business cases to be considered by the Budget and Expenditure Review Committee (BERC).

The document must be endorsed by the department program executive director and executive director Finance and Corporate Services.

As a department document, it should not be endorsed by external agencies, but this section should contain a statement detailing the level of endorsement by the agency, steering committee or other project committees.

For example, the strategic business case was endorsed by the joint Department of Health and Human Services / agency steering committee [or PCG] on [date] and subsequently by the board of [agency] on [date].
